Everyone hates Covid-19, and you might even hate it more when you know that its consequences are even on boxing. The long-awaiting boxing combat between Fury and Wilder was scheduled at the end of July, however, was postponed. Let’s discover the reason behind this delay, and find out if Covid-19 is mentioned here.
Why fury vs wilder 3 postponed
The World Boxing Council (WBC) declared on Friday that Tyson Fury's trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder in Las Vegas this month has been canceled after Fury tested positive for COVID-19.
In May, WBC heavyweight champion Fury agreed to fight the 35-year-old American Wilder for the third time on July 24.
"Fury vs Wilder III will be postponed. We wish Tyson Fury's team and him speedy recovery from COVID," the WBC stated.
Earlier this week, Fury was found to be positive, hence, the fight may be rescheduled for the autumn.
When why fury vs wilder 3 back
Fury was supposed to compete with fellow Briton Anthony Joshua for a world heavyweight unification title in Saudi Arabia in August, however, a legal ruling in the US commanded Fury to confront Wilder again prior to Sept. 15.
Fury first met Wilder in 2018 and won the WBC title in a rematch in February 2020, stopping him in the seventh round.
Wilder's allegations that he was due a third fight against Fury were accepted in an arbitration hearing. It will be the confrontation after the second fight in 2019.
Since their second fight in 2019, neither Fury nor Wilder, 35, have returned to the ring.
In preparation for their third fight, the British boxer has been training in Las Vegas.
There is indeed a possibility for a Fury-Joshua fight in 2021, yet we doubt that it might not happen this year if the Fury-Wilder fight is postponed.
On September 25, Joshua retained his IBF, WBA, and WBO titles against Oleksandr Usyk in London.
