Canelo was warned about 'American style' before his fight with Caleb Plant

Keith Thurman, the former world welterweight champion, gave Canelo Alvarez a warning ahead of his big fight with Caleb Plant.

Canelo's dream of becoming the undisputed super middleweight champion is finally coming true. The Mexican superstar holds the WBA, WBC, WBO, and The Ring titles. On November 6, he'll unify them in front of the IBF belt holder-Plant. The "king of weight classes" is only one victory away from glory.

If winning Plant, Canelo will unify the super middle class' noble titles

Canelo, on the other hand, recently received a powerful warning from Thurman. Plant (21-0, 12 KOs), according to the 32-year-old former king, has a fighting style that is identical to Floyd Mayweather, the so-called best middleweight boxer who has previously defeated Canelo.

Canelo (56-1-2, 38 KOs) used to fight in a straightforward manner, according to Thurman, until Mayweather exposed Canelo’s shortcomings when the two fought in 2013. ( Mayweather wins by scoring after 12 rounds).

Canelo picked up on the American legend's style after the aforementioned match. Thurman, on the other hand, claims that Canelo's "imitated" skills aren't perfect. When it comes to dealing with high-class fighters, the 31-year-old champion isn't as good as Mayweather.

After losing to Mayweather, the Mexican boxer learned a lot of lessons.

Thurman believes Canelo revealed his flaws in a May fight with Billy Joe Saunders. Thank goodness, in the eighth round, a powerful punch from the Mexican star broke the opponent's left eye socket, forcing the mister to quit.
